Today we enjoyed a lovely Spring day at Dawes Arboretum: 1,800 acres, beautiful scenery, elegant landscapes, walking and hiking trails, 15,000 living plants, and many species of wildlife.
Clockwise from top:
- we do not use the timer setting on our camera often enough!
- Dawes Lake
- The Japanese Garden and pond
- The Cypress Swamp
- trees that looked like something out of a Dr. Seuss book
- J scouting salamanders (the salamanders had just migrated days ago to the swamp to begin their breeding season and were extremely well camouflaged, much to J's disappointment)
- goldfish in the pond at the Japanese Garden
- Conifer Glen, where we felt as if we were strolling through the setting of a Jane Austen novel
- my silly boys imprisoned at the Japanese Garden!

We so love Dawes Arboretum" has always been a favorite of ours. We try to go every Fall and Spring if we can. And the Japanese Garden is my favorite part. I can't wait to take Eleanor there when we get back.
You are also reminding me that I need to use the timer on our camera more often as well! We seriously only have 3 pictures of us as a family since coming here 7 months ago :(
Glad you had so much fun! xx
I also love Dawes...we went there a few times growing up and David and I took my nephew several years ago. What a great day for a day of exploring. You are reminding me we need to go back!
Wonderful pictures!
Thanks for stopping by yesterday. I love hearing from other Mama Writers! (Or should that be Writer Mama's? ;)
